Next week’s learning

In topic, we will focus on birthday celebrations. We will talk about our experiences of birthday parties, why we send birthday cards and then we will have a go at writing our own birthday cards to our class bears. On Thursday we will have our  ‘Hook day’ and celebrate our class bear’s birthday. We will make a jam roly poly and play party games. Next week is also Anti-Bullying week. On Monday we will wear odd socks and learn what respect is and how we can show respect to others.

In phonics, we will continue with our phase 2 sounds. We will practise segmenting and blending words containing the sounds l, ll, ss and ff and reading the tricky words of and into. Tricky words are words that cannot be sounded out – we have to learn to remember them.

In maths, we will focus on one more and one less. We will introduce the key vocabulary ‘fewer’ and ‘more’ and learn how to count carefully. We will also compare groups of objects to find out which group has fewer or more objects.
